History

The community of Pine Whiff Beach was established on March 30, 1926. While this date marks the subdivision of our current community, the history of the land on which Pine Whiff Beach resides significantly predates 1926. The land was originally acquired by Richard and Rachel Beard under the headright system on January 6, 1650 and became known as Poplar Neck. This property became the first tract of land to be officially surveyed in Anne Arundel County.
